| Muntari to miss Milan
Tuesday 16 September, 2008
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari has been handed a three-game ban for lashing out at Catania midfielder Giacomo Tedesco and misses the Milan derby.
There were heated scenes at San Siro as Muntari saw red for hitting Tedesco in the face while trying to shake the Etnei man off.
The Nerazzurri players surrounded Tedesco and vehemently protested that he had playacted but Muntari was still sent off.
After the game, Jose Mourinho argued the Ghanaian international's innocence, but the Disciplinary Commission has supported referee Antonio Damato.
“In the 45th minute of the first half when play had stopped, Muntari hit an opponent with his hand on the turn and struck him a blow in the mouth,” sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel stated.
Muntari will now miss out on the Milan derby on September 28 as well as games against Torino and Lecce. | |

| Inter appeal Muntari ban
Tuesday 16 September, 2008
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inter have presented an official appeal against midfielder Sulley Muntari's three-game ban.
The Ghanaian international was sent off during the Nerazzurri's 2-1 win over Catania last weekend.
Muntari raised his hands to Catania's Giacomo Tedesco but the Beneamata players felt the Etnei man overreacted.
Jose Mourinho blasted the dismissal after the game, but sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel imposed the ban nonetheless and Muntari stands to miss the Milan derby.
“Inter would like to communicate that they will appeal against the three-game ban handed to Muntari for his sending off at the end of the first half of Inter-Catania on Saturday September 13,” a statement from the club reads. | |
