The world's fastest man will step back on the track this Friday for the first time since his world-record performances at the Beijing Olympics.

He'll run the 100 metres at the IAAF Golden League meet in Weltklasse Zurich, Switzerland, the first of three European meets before he returns home for an inevitable hearty welcome in Jamaica.

Before a sellout crowd of 26,000, Bolt is up against six finalists on Friday from the Olympic 100m and is scheduled for a rematch with Olympic runner-up Richard Thompson of Trinidad and Tobago and Walter Dix of the United States, who won the bronze, but compatriot Asafa Powell, who runs in Gateshead on Sunday, is missing.

A star-studded field in Zurich is packed with 12 reigning Olympic champions, including Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva, 110m hurdler Dayron Robles and Kenenisa Bekele, the 5,000m and 10,000m champion.

The meeting will also offer the sell-out crowd something the Olympic Games could not quite manage when Jamaica take on the United States in the 4x100m.

On next Tuesday (Sept. 2) Bolt will take aim at his 200 mark at the Athletissima Grand Prix meet in Lausanne. He'll then run the 100 at the final Golden League meet on Sept. 5 in Brussels, Belgium.

"I haven't set any goals for the rest of the season," he said. "Just try to get through the season injury-free and go home and enjoy myself."
