| Fernando Torres will soon make a return to his old playing ground, Atlético Madrid, after his current team Liverpool were pitted against his former club in Group D of the Champions League.
It is bound to be one of the most highly anticipated reunions in Champions League football this season when former Atlético Madrid golden boy, Fernando Torres makes a return to his childhood club. It will also set-up a tantalizing encounter with Atlético’s current and new golden boy, Sergio Agüero, largely regarded as the player brought in to replace Torres at the Vicente Calderón. While El Kun is eagerly looking forward to the clash with El Niño, the 20 year old Argentine Olympic gold medallist also advised that this will be a match between two football clubs rather than two opposing players. “Yes, it is a meeting with El Niño because he used to play with Atlético but they (Liverpool) will be a very difficult rival, just like the others,” he admitted to Marca. “Besides Torres, they have a lot of other good players, just like we do. But it will be a duel between Liverpool and Atlético, eleven against eleven. “The media will always portray it as Torres vs Agüero but I stress once again that it will be Liverpool vs Atlético,” he clarified. Finally, El Kun revealed his excitement to finally be able to play in Europe’s blue ribbon competition. “I am waiting for the Champions League to begin. I am excited to play the matches, help the team do well and hopefully progress to the next stage,” concluded Agüero. Atlético will begin their adventures with a trip to PSV Eindhoven in a group that also includes Marseille.
