| The Champions League Is A Dream Come True - Kuzmanovic
Fiorentina midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic admits that being able to play in the Champions League is a dream come true as his Viola side prepare for their European adventure.
The Viola look set to make the group stages for the first time in almost a decade.
Cesare Prandelli’s men will be back in action this week for the second leg of their third qualifying round match against Slavia Prague, where they head into the game with a 2-0 advanatge.
Kuzmanovic is looking forward to a productive season and he is aiming sky high.
“We have just entered a brilliant week because first we have the Champions League clash against Slavia and then we play Juve on Sunday,” said the midfielder.
“To be able to play in the Champions League is like a dream for me. We are focussed and we want to get the right result.
“We have a good advantage and we want to make the most of it. We’ll play our game in order to take a win with us back home. “Our group is strong and unified and we always help each other out.”
Fiorentina take on Slavia in the Czech Republic on Wednesday night but Adrian Mutu will miss the game as he has not completely recovered from an elbow dislocation.
Alberto Gilardino is likely to partner Gianpaolo Pazzini up front. The 2006 World Cup winner will be looking to get on the score sheet, just like he did in the first leg. | |

| Mutu To Miss Slavia And Juve Clash
Fiorentina forward Adrian Mutu's elbow injury will keep him out of the upcoming matches against Slavia Prague and Juventus...
There’s bad news for La Viola, as it is now confirmed that Adrian Mutu will miss his side's next two official matches at least, the Champions League preliminary return-leg against Slavia Prague and their Serie A opener with Juventus.
The Romania dislocated his elbow while training with the Romanian national squad on August 19th.
Fiorentina had feared the worst when it was revealed the striker had an injury, and doctors confirmed today that he could not take part in the next few matches: "It (the elbow) has shown improvements, but he cannot be used Wednesday against Slavia Prague or the first Sunday in the championship against Juventus."
Fiorentina fans will hope Mutu's services will not be needed in Prague as the club have a 2-0 lead going into the second-leg. However, I Gigliati have a tougher test against Juventus on Sunday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and Mutu's services would have, ofcourse, been welcomed.
Mutu nearly left Fiorentina this summer for Roma, but the move was halted as La Viola coach Cesare Prandelli considered him a key part of his squad. Mutu scored 17 Serie A goals for the Florence outfit last season and will be looking to pick up where he left off when he returns from injury. | |

| this is a very big blow for Viola maybe they can handle it against Slavia but Juve's match will be very important n Mutu would have been vital in that one. i think Viola have good replacements up front in Osvaldo and Pazzini , but in think Prandelli should play Osvaldo next to Gilardino as he will be better in the 2nd striker role than Pazzini who is a box striker like Gilardino n i dont think that both will cope well. but with Osvaldo's technique n Gilardino's positionin n Finishin it will be a better partnership than Gilardino-Pazzini | |

| Gamberini Signs New Viola Contract
Fiorentina defender Alessandro Gamberini has signed a new contract with the club until 2013.
Gamberini was one of the best defenders in Serie A last season, and his impressive performances played a big role in the Viola finishing fourth and qualifying for the Champions League.
Following the injury to Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro on the eve of the Euro 2008 finals, Gamberini was called up as a replacement, although he never played a minute in Austria and Switzerland.
This attention saw the 27-year-old heavily linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich over the summer, however the stopper has now pledged his future to Fiorentina by signing a new five-year contract in Tuscany.
"Fiorentina announce that the contract of defender Alessandro Gamberini has been renewed, lasting until 2013.
“The player will meet with journalists at the Stadio Franchi today at 16:30 CET."
Gamberini came up through the Bologna youth system, and made his Serie A debut as an 18-year-old in the 1999/00 season.
He joined Fiorentina in 2005, and last night helped the club back into the Champions League group stages for the first time in nine years, when they defeated Slavia Prague 2-0 on aggregate in the final preliminary round. | |

| well their chances so far is higher than Milan in reachin the top 4 but they must seperate between their CL n Scudetto so that they wont lose on both at the end. Milan will concentrate on the CL this year only as they wont participate in CL so Viola must be careful not 2 lose on top 4. | |

| Gamberini dislocates shoulder
Saturday 6 September, 2008
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alessandro Gamberini could be out of action for quite a while after dislocating his shoulder one minute into the Italy game with Cyprus.
The Fiorentina defender was in the starting XI, but lasted only 60 seconds before he fell awkwardly and was substituted.
Initial reports from the local hospital in Larnaca suggest there were complications, as the medical staff could not get the shoulder to pop back in.
There is no word yet on how long Gamberini will be sidelined, but it's likely to be at least a fortnight.
If the ligaments have been damaged in the shoulder, then the time out of action will be far longer.
Italy also lost defender Fabio Grosso to a back injury in the opening minutes of tonight's World Cup qualifier, but his condition is not thought to be serious. | |

| I'm sorry for Gamberini and yet, happy that Fiorentina have lost such an important player for at least two weeks. | |

| a huge loss 4 Viola Gamberini is considered one of Italy's best defenders ryt now n i dont think that Dainelli will provide same cover as Alessandro does Viola will be affected with his absence especially that it aint a short one , 7 Calcio games plus a couple in the CL. | |
