| Keegan Leaves Newcastle?
According to BBC Radio Newcastle, Kevin Keegan has left Newcastle United this morning after a meeting yesterday with club owner Mike Ashley...
While these reports remain unconfirmed, BBC Radio Five Live has since repeated the information on a national level. Sky Sports News are carrying stories suggesting that Keegan has actually been sacked.
Local bookmakers are already speculating as to who will be his replacement. Dennis Wise is the early favourite, with money also being put on David Moyes and Didier Deschamps.
However, such rumours have circulated before. It is known that Ashley and Keegan enjoy something of a fiery relationship, although all previous talk of a resignation has been proven false.
Keegan is said to have grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of control at the club, while his relationship with the board continued to strain.
The Northern Echo claim that Ashley's decision to recruit only two players on the last day of the summer window was a key component in Kevin Keegan's desire to leave.
'King Kev' had oft stated his belief to the board that he needed at least four or five new players, especially in the wake of the visit to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday where he was forced to field Ameobi, who hadn't played football for nine months, and name a bench littered with teenagers and Joey Barton.
The sale of James Milner too, has also been cited as a possible reason for the departure of Keegan, who believed the now Villa wideman to be a crucial player in any success the Magpies were to enjoy this season.

Official: Keegan Not Sacked!Kevin Keegan looks set to remain as manager of Newcastle United despite reports throughout today suggesting that the former England boss had been sacked from his role at the club. After a day of speculation, the North East club have released a statement on their official website confirming that Keegan remains at the managerial helm for the Magpies and has not been sacked. “Newcastle United can confirm that meetings between members of the Board and manager Kevin Keegan were held both yesterday and today. Kevin has raised a number of issues and those have been discussed with him,” read the statement. “The Club wants to keep progressing with its long-term strategy and would like to stress that Kevin is extremely important, both now and in the future,” it continued. “Newcastle United values the effort and commitment shown by Kevin since his return to St. James' Park and wants him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager of the Club. “For the avoidance of doubt the Club has not sacked Kevin Keegan as manager.” Betting on the next Premier League manager to be sacked was suspended this morning after an avalanche of money was placed on Keegan, who is reportedly extremely unhappy at the lack of new faces brought in and the sale of winger James Milner to Aston Villa. All of the major news outlets had reported that the former Manchester City manager had left his post and fans had been protesting outside St. James’ Park throughout this afternoon. It remains to be seen whether or not club owner Mike Ashley had a change of heart after witnessing the outcry from supporters who believed that Keegan had gone.
