Toon To Make Malouda Move?Kevin Keegan is ready to sign Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, provided the Blues succeed in their bid for Robinho, reports the Mail on Sunday.
Malouda signed for Chelsea in 2007 from Lyon for a fee thought to be in the region of £13 million. The Frenchman made an impressive debut for the Blues, scoring on his debut, however he swiftly fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge and made only 16 starts for the club last season.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the Newcastle owner Mike Ashley had made funds available and Dennis Wise, having spoken to his former club about the availability of Malouda, has been assured the Frenchman is for sale.
However, Chelsea are reportedly only willing to let Malouda go if they are successful in signing Brazilian Robinho from Real Madrid.
Robinho has indicated he wants to leave the Bernabeu and Madrid president Roman Calderon has reportedly claimed that he will not keep a player at the club who is unhappy, fuelling speculation that Chelsea made be on the brink of signing the forward.
Newcastle are reportedly willing to offer Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side £12 million for Malouda as they look to improve their squad before the transfer window closes.
Keegan has already brought in Jonas Gutteriez, Sebastien Bassong, Danny Guthrie and Fabricio Coloccini and have made a bright start to the season, drawing 1-1 at Old Trafford and beating Bolton 1-0 yesterday at St James’ Park.
