Of all the bullshit about this scandal, the one that infuriates me the most is the Inter connection.
The scandal started after the Gazzetta printed (taken heavily out of context) transcripts of Moggi speaking to league officials. Not only is this illegal (espionage by a non-governmental organization and publishing private conversations), the paper who leaked them (Gazzetta) is an Interista (Inter Milan) paper. Inter Milan's vice president, Carlo Buora, is the CEO of the Gazzetta. Verdelli and Cannavo are its 2 main editors, both of whom are Inter shareholders.
Furthermore, these tapes were from and old investigation 2 yrs earlier conducted by Telecom Italia (You read that correctly, a non-governmental organization, and Inter parent company, used its position as a telecommunications provider to spy on Juventus, as well as thousands of other). They provided these wiretaps to magistrates all across Italy, but they didn't prosecute because there was nothing on the tapes that was incriminating, a finding which which is echoed by magistrates all across Italy, all the way up to the President of the Federal court. It only became an issue once an Inter paper leaked heavily doctored transripts to the media (which got the media circus of half facts and Juve bashing rolling), and an Interista was appointed president of the league during the scandal, which brings me to my next point.
Galliani (Milan Vice-president) was president of the FIGC (Italian FA) during the scandal years. Once the scandal broke loose, he was forced to resign due to a clear conflict of interst with Milan. The new FIGC president would be Guido Rossi. Guido Rossi served on Inter Milan's board of directors between 1995-1999 (4 years). Moratti (Inter Owner) has labeled him a friend in the media numerous times, and a few years ago, they could be seen together at the San Siro for Inter matches. Replace 1 conflict of interest with another. Rossi is also a self proclaimed Interista. Furthermore, Guido Rossi would resign his position as president (once Juve's fate was sealed) and go and become president of TIM (Telecom Italia, which is to serie a what Barclays is to the prem). By doing so, any debate on where Rossi's loyality lied were gone.
TIM also has Carlos Buora as its VP (same man who is CEO of the Gazetta and who is Inter Milan's vice President). Massimo Moratti (Inter Owner) also servers on their board of directors. To top it all off, TIM is controlled through Pirelli. Pirelli is owned by Marco Tronchetti Provera, which in turn means he is owner of Telecom Italia. Marco Tronchetti Provera is Inter Milan's 2nd largest share holder next to Moratti. Pirelli is also Inter's sponsor.
Telecom Italia, the Gazzetta and Inter Milan are owned and run by the same ppl, and they all conspired against Juve to get them relegated. It also explains y Inter benefitted from the whole mess.
(TIM are currently being investigated for espionage. Around 17 Telecom Italia employees were arrested a few months ago. 1 of them, Giuliano Tavaroli, the former head of security at Telecom Italia, is currently in prison and he has stated on record he was ordered by the board (which as shown above, consists of 3 Interista who also serve on Inter’s board) to spy on others.
Also, 2 weeks ago, 4 more Telecom Italia employee’s were arrested on new charges of espionage. They include Fabio Ghioni, the head of information security at Telecom Italia, his assistant, Rocco Lucia, and Guglielmo Sasinini, a former journalist who had been hired by TIM to conduct country risk analyses for the Middle East region. These men are said to have spied on Vittorio Colao, the former executive chief executive officer of the Rizzoli Corriere della Sera (RCS) publishing group, and on Massimo Mucchetti, the deputy director of the Corriere della Sera newspaper, through using their stance as Italy’s largest communications company.
Is it any wonder y Inter weren’t on the tapes? The company where the tapes came from is to Inter what FIAT is to Juventus. Their board of director's and main investor's mirror each other. Furthermore, is it any wonder y Guido Rossi headed the FIGC investigation (keep in mind who the leagues main sponsor is).
TIM (Telecom Italia) was Guido Rossi's reward once Juve's fate was sealed, which consisted of commiting numerous injustices to limit Moggi’s ability to mount a defense. They concluded what should have been at least a years long trial over a summer, and took shortcuts which undermined the legitimacy of their finding's (if having no incriminating evidence wasn't enough to begin with).
Also, the fact Rossi would award Inter Juve’s 05/06 scudetto, despite the fact that yr had nothing to do with the scandal, shows what type of mission it was. On top of all that, Mancini (Inter coach) mumbled early warning’s about this scandal in the lead up to the Inter/Juve match in Febuary (which Juve won). He said Moggi would have to answer to some1 soon, and numerous Interista officials would belittle Juve’s dominance in the pre-game, implying they cheated all those years to beat Inter, something they didn’t do in past meetings. Who better to know about a looming scandal than the coach of Inter, who’s board members and investors occupy the company that spy on others? The fact they knew about it that early further goes to show how they manipulated the events of this summer in their favour.
Juve were hung out to dry. It's quite obvious Inter initiated calciopoli. Telelcom Italia proves that beyond reasonable doubt.
Sadly, I haven’t even scraped the surface. I haven’t got into what the verdicts say (available online, which back up my claims of Juve being cheated and made an example out of). The real scandal was in fact what happened behind the scenes.
I bet your wondering, well knowing all this, and seeing as FIAT is the largest corporation in Italy (they own Juve), y didn’t they use their influence to counter that of Moratti’s? No1 really knows for sure, but its worth pointing out that TIM sponsor Ferrari (who FIAT own, FIAT also own Juve) with big sponsorship money. Also, division within the Agnelli family over Juve, as 1 side has always despised Moggi and company, and this made them leave.
More importantly, if Juve would have appealed the events of this summer ( the serie a season would have been delayed big time, to the point it wouldn't have been played. Also FIFA threatened to ban Italy from all competitions if it was appealed.
Furthermore, appealing would have no doubt resulted in the uncovering of the TIM connections. TIM is seria a's main sponsor. The league obviously wont accept an appeal which would no doubt rip TIM to shreds, as big money is on the line.
Lucky for Juve, there are more Juve fans than any other club in Italy. They wont let this rest (shareholders of Juventus have gotten together to lodge an appeal, since the club wont due to political reasons). The truth will come ot eventually, and no amount of ignorant trolls like JD will change that.
