The Porto website announced late Sunday night that Ricardo Quaresma has been sold to Inter in a total £25m deal.

The official Porto website announced that Quaresma will move to Inter in exchange for £15m plus full ownership of Portuguese creative midfielder Pelè, who is worth £4.8m.

The transfer also includes bonus payments of a further £4.8m depending on how Quaresma performs in the coming campaign.

Adding all the figures up, Inter will effectively pay a total of almost £25m for the winger.

Quaresma is already on his way to Milan to undergo a medical and sign contracts ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday evening.

Only on Saturday evening President Massimo Moratti had told the media that his team “doesn’t need Quaresma” and talks had been abandoned.

Coach Jose Mourinho expressed his irritation and pointed out he had asked for the player the moment he arrived this summer.

It seems a crisis meeting on Sunday prompted the Nerazzurri to re-enter negotiations with Porto and later that night the deal was struck.

Portuguese international Ricardo Quaresma has completed a medical and signed his contract with Inter.

After months of speculation, Coach Jose Mourinho finally got his man late last night when Porto agreed a deal with the Italian champions.

The Nerazzurri have paid £15m plus the full rights to young talent Pelè and £4.8m in bonuses related to Quaresma and Inter's performances over the next three seasons.

The 24-year-old was greeted at Inter's headquarters in Via Durini this morning and passed his first medical tests before signing his contract and having lunch with new boss Jose Mourinho and the Beneamata directors.

Since arriving at Porto four years ago, Quaresma made 114 appearances for the Dragons and found the net 28 times in the Bwin Liga, playing as a winger and a forward.

Quaresma completes Inter switch

MILAN - Inter have completing the signing of Ricardo Andrade Quaresma Bernardo from Porto, with Gomes Passos Vitor Hugo Pelé going the other way.

The Portuguese winger, 25 years old on 26 September, passed a medical before inking a five-year contract which will run until 30 June 2013.

Accompanied by his agents to Inter's headquarters, Quaresma met Inter vice president Rinaldo Ghelfi, technical director Marco Branca, transfer consultant Gabriele Oriali and vice general manager Stefano Filucchi.

José Mourinho, back in Milan after watching Inter's Champions League opponents Panathinaikos in action at the weekend, was at Palazzo Durini to welcome the new signing.

Quaresma, who will wear the number 77 shirt, will be introduced to the press at the Centro Sportivo Angelo Moratti in Appiano Gentile on Tuesday at 12:30 (press entry at 12:15).

A helpful signing foe INTER i think that this team is going to destroy their oponent in every match also by the brain of someone like MOURINHO they will be unstoppable !!!

well i dont think Mourinho's 1st season in Serie A will be easy , it's a new atmosphere u know a new style of football and definatly a new world.

but in CL Mou has the experience n i hope he does what tens of coaches failed to do with Inter , except the great Helenio Herreira in the 60's

The Nerazzurri have been following the Porto midfielder all summer but they have not managed to win the tug of war regarding his asking price.

Reports in Italy claimed that the unwanted midfielder was on the verge of joining the Italian champions. However, it doesn’t seem as if Moratti wants to dig deep enough into his pockets in order to get the move wrapped up.

“Quaresma? No, I don’t think he will arrive,” Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.

The chief then tried to deflect attentions to Inter’s game against Sampdoria and he moaned about having tough fixtures early on but he is confident of the team's abilities.

“Every year it’s always the same. We always get tough fixtures at the start but we have to try and do well to over come this,” continued the oil tycoon.

“I have good impressions from [Jose] Mourinho’s play and from the atmosphere within the team.”

The Nerazzurri will be hoping to carry their good form right the way through the season as they begin the defence of their Scudetto crown.
