Our interview - Kaka: Milan is my life, I would never ask to leave
Milan ace Kaka plays down the latest transfer rumours linking him with Manchester City and gives an update on his injury problems.
The FIFA World Player of the Year missed the start of the season, as his knee still hasn't fully healed after a summer operation.
There have been suggestions that the injury may be a persistent thorn in Kaka's side and the complaint blighted his 2007-08 campaign.
“I know there is lots of concern over my injury but this story has been running for over a year,” Kaka told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“There has always been something that stopped me from listening to my body in recent times.
“For example, the knee would be painful but we had a European Super Cup to win, and then I wanted the Ballon d'Or and then the games in Yokohama. It kept going like that until I had to stop.”
Over the last 12 months, Kaka has been the constant subject of transfer speculation and the latest side to enter the frame are Manchester City.
“First it was Real Madrid and now it is fashionable to talk about England,” Kaka said.
“The market goes like that - Milan make offers to other clubs and they make offers to Milan.
“But I would never ask to leave. I have always been treated well by the directors and the relationship is excellent.
“One day people may have a different attitude towards me, but that doesn't seem possible to me.
“I would only leave if the Rossoneri decided to sell me, or the day that we don't have the same objectives and I don't see that happening.
“Milan did well in the market and still want to win and be competitive and those are also my targets.”
Kaka concluded by refuting suggestions that Milan have an imbalanced squad with too much emphasis on the attack.
“You can play with five attackers,” he insisted.
“The important thing is that the team doesn't divide into two halves where the defenders moan that the strikers don't help them and the strikers moan that there isn't enough going forward, but that won't happen here.”
